WHY BUCKS COUNTY MATTERS

Bucks County is the perennial swing county in the battleground state of Pennsylvania.

 The Democratic voter rolls in Republican-dominated Bucks County built steadily from 2008 through 2019, peaked in 2020, and then dropped by about 8%. In the same period registered Republicans grew about 2%. Most notably, unaffiliated voters, increasingly disillusioned with both parties, grew to 17.5% of the county electorate.  The net effect: a swing of roughly 20,000 voters, from D+10,000 to R+10,000.

Bucks County is 4th most populous county in Pennsylvania.

It's also the oldest, least diverse, and most "purple" compared to the 3 largest counties  - and it provides a critical margin in determining statewide elections such as governor and U.S. senator as well as which party holds the majority in the state house and state senate.

Bucks County is a critical firewall against state legislative overreach in Pennsylvania.

The conservative majority on the U.S. Supreme Court has handed the states the power to decide voting rights, women's reproductive rights, privacy, and gun safety — among much else — and its efforts to shift power to the states continue. In Bucks County, Republicans still hold five of our ten state house seats and two of our three state senate seats. With Democrats at a one-seat majority in the state house, every one of those seats matters.The path to the first fully Democratic legislature in more than thirty years runs directly through Bucks County.

Bucks County has a nationally significant role to play.

In 2024, eroding Democratic support in Bucks County and other suburbs delivered the margins that decided the presidency. Trump's 2024 win in Bucks was the first Republican presidential victory in the county since George H.W. Bush in 1988, and it was razor-thin, a margin of a few hundred votes out of nearly 400,000 cast. In 2028, winning back suburban swing voters in Pennsylvania and the other battleground states will be key to any Democratic revival.
